They will journey together seeking, learning, and helping themselves and classmates become strong, independent leaders at Holy Spirit and for Christ. Quest uses books to help explain concepts to students, reinforcing the main message and other messages the book gives. There is a need for new books that help with social-emotional skills for the Elementary and Jr. High students. These books will focus on self-esteem, friendship, conflict resolution and feelings among other things.

AC/Heat system for the CDC.

This new system would have the ability of both heat and air conditioning, running independently of the whole school heating system. This unit would allow for heat in the CDC on chilly fall mornings when starting the entire school system is not necessary. This is also a great system to have if there are problems with the main boiler. Additionally, there are times when the CDC is open while the school is not and the opportunity to run independently from the school is necessary.

Upright piano.

This new, versatile piano would be used for a variety of functions around Holy Spirit church and school. It would
permanently replace the old upright that sits in the parish Multi-Purpose Room. This piano would be rolled into the church to be used for various church and school such as the school Christmas program, where we currently use a portable. Finally, this piano could easily be moved into the school gymnasium and used for Christmas and Holy Week liturgies, as needed – until our capacity in the church is able to be back to during this uncertain time. The gymnasium also holds other activities throughout the year where a piano could be used.

General Gift/Greatest Need

If you are not interested in giving to one of the specific items listed, please feel free to make a gift to Holy Spirit and designate it in any way you choose or give toward our greatest need!

GivingTuesday FAQ’s:

How can you make your gift on Tuesday? We want to make it easy for you! You can make your gift online, or give me a call at 616-340-2307! I would be happy to help you make your gift over the phone. You are also welcome to bring a check in to the parish office!

What if I would like to give toward more than one item on GivingTuesday? While our online giving system will not allow you to pick more than one designation when you make your gift there are options! You can do separate transactions for the different items that you would like to give toward or give me a call at 616-340-2307! I can take all your information and make sure your gift is split amongst the items you would like to support.

What if I’m not interested in contributing to any of these specific items but I want to be a part of GivingTuesday at Holy Spirit? That’s okay! When you go online to make your gift on GivingTuesday there will be an option to select “Other” in the list of items. In the comments box just specify what you are interested in giving toward (i.e., Capital Fund, General Fund, etc.)  and we will make sure that happens.

What if I am unable to make a gift on Tuesday, December 1, but I want to still be a part of GivingTuesday? No problem! If you would like to make your gift a different day and have it count toward one of our wish list items, or something else, just let me know! You can give me a call at 616-453-6369, or stop in the parish office and we will make sure your gift counts on December 1!

Who do I call with questions or if I need help? You can call/email Vicki Bouwkamp at 616-340-2307 or vbouwkamp@hsparish.org

Tuesday, December 15 | 6:30 pm
The “O” Antiphons, popularized by the hymn, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” accompany Mary’s canticle of Evening Prayer from December 12-17. They use ancient biblical imagery drawn from the messianic hopes of the Old Testament to proclaim the coming Christ as the fulfillment not only of ancient people’s hopes, but of modern ones as well. Fr. Phil Shangraw will explore these Advent images with his usual drollness and  questionable insights.

In order to help keep everyone safe, this event will be live on the parish Facebook page and a recording will be available upon completion of the event.

Fr. Mark’s Christmas Greeting

Dear Families and Friends of Holy Spirit Parish,

On this feast of Christmas, we gather with Christians all over the world to celebrate the birth of Christ, Savior of the World.  As this familiar story of our Lord’s birth is proclaimed once again, our astonishment of this life-changing event should not be diminished. God has rightly, fully chosen to manifest the depth of His love for us in the Christ child.

Whether you are coming to Holy Spirit for the first time, or visit us regularly, you are most welcome. If you are visiting our parish for the first time, we are happy that you are here, and hope that you will come back to celebrate with us again in the coming year.  If you have been away from the Church for some time, we would love to have you come back and join us; everyone is welcome.

As I celebrate my second Christmas as your pastor, I would like to express my joy and happiness about being assigned at Holy Spirit Parish.

On behalf of the entire parish staff, I would like to extend to you and your loved ones our prayers and best wishes for a blessed and joyous Christmas season and a Happy New Year!

Love,

Fr. Mark
